Welcome to Foundation (Class F)
In Class F we are all about learning through play. We spend a lot of our time exploring, experimenting and getting messy both inside and outside.

In Class F we learn a lot of our curriculum through playful interactions. We use the Development Matters document to plan, observe and assess the 7 areas of learning. Both the indoor and outdoor classrooms are set up to support and enhance learning and development throughout the year. We use a balance of child-initiated and adult-led learning to support progress in all the 7 areas of learning.
We deliver daily phonics lessons using the Letters and Sounds scheme of work. All children will have a sound book to practice new sounds at home. To further support reading we will give children word/caption bingo games and eventually reading books.
PE in Class F
PE lessons will be taught every Monday and Thursday and children should come into school wearing their PE kits and will not need a change of clothes.
In Class F we use child interests to support and expand our learning, therefore our topics can change and develop unexpectedly to follow these key interests. In the Autumn Term we covered these topics: Myself, All about Autumn, Celebrations and Christmas.
We have begun the Spring Term looking at the topic, ‘People who Help us.’ We have talked about what we would like to be when we grow up and we are excited to learn about how different professionals help us everyday.
During the Summer Term we will be looking at growth and other stories surrounding plants and animals . We are also excited to go on our school trip to the Washington Wetlands Center to learn all about insects and life cycles.
