Hi Year 6, I hope you’re all well and keeping safe – I know it’s difficult but we can get through it together.
Hopefully, you have been getting on ok with the paper home learning pack you all received before we left school. I am really looking forward to looking through your projects and seeing what you have been up to.
The first year 6 pack was quite bulky, due to the CPG books that I sent home, remember those books were for after Easter. Once you have completed as much of the first pack that you are able to, please move on to learning pack 2. I will then update the website with a new learning pack every two weeks until school fully re-opens. If you’ve not quite finished the CPG books but you want to start the next pack for some variation- that’s ok.
Please work through the packs at your own pace- don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. You need to focus on you and your own capabilities – remember you can do this. You are all very good at choosing the right level of work for yourself and I know you all enjoy a challenge too. If something is too difficult, just do as much as you can or miss it out. I do expect you to be doing the majority of the work independently as you would in class but of course there may be times when you need a little clarification or further explanation.
Sadly (my opinion – but you have worked so hard and would have done amazing!), SATs are cancelled, but you need to remember that all your hard work has not just been for tests. It’s important to retain and build upon the knowledge you have, ready for secondary school, so please try and complete some Maths and English regularly. Try to aim for 3 times a week, however you don’t need to spend more than an hour on either of these subjects at any one time. Remember to keep reading – try for 20-30 minutes a day – it’s a lot easier in this lovely sunshine.
It is important to do some regular school work but it is even more important to keep yourselves active, physically and mentally. During these uncertain times it can be worrying for us all but keep yourself busy and you will get through it easier. Take this opportunity to learn something new, I know like me, many of you are very keen bakers – try new recipes to share with your family. It is all about balance! As the weather is getting nicer, make the most of your outdoor time. Try to do at least 30 minutes physical activity a day- this could be going for a walk, playing in the garden, riding your bike or just having a good dance around the living room!
I sent home a home learning book for you to complete work in however, if you would rather do some of the tasks in poster form or on the laptop, that is absolutely fine. You could even do a video presentation! Blow my mind with your technology skills -yours is definitely better than mine – as you all know.
Please take care of yourselves and your families- it is the most important thing right now. If you need me for anything- I am always here. Keep in touch, stay safe and hopefully we will all be back together very soon
