Welcome to our School Council
St. Michael’s School Council consists of two representatives each from classes 3 to 6 and is overseen by Mrs Parker. They meet together at least once a month however they fulfill their role of monitoring and evaluating the school environment everyday.
Their role:
- Discuss and make suggestions for how to improve teaching and learning
- Discuss and make suggestions for how to keep everyone safe and happy
- Evaluate and promote the school rules
- Identify and find solutions to problems occurring outside of the classroom
- Make informed decisions on behalf of the school
- Represent the school outside of the premises
- Communicate their work with their own class and gather feedback
- Promote emotional well-being
- Liaise with all the other pupil groups
- School tours for visitors and speak to Governors, visitors etc.
Qualities of our school councillors:
- Friendly, well-mannered and approachable
- Optimistic problem solvers
- Committed to the school and our school mission statement
- Able to communicate with adults and children effectively
- Good, patient listeners
