Year 2 Staff
Our class teachers are Mrs Kitson and Mrs Jameson.
We are also supported in our learning by Miss Carey.
You can find our more about our learning by visiting the Curriculum section of our website.
We will be learning all about animals, including humans. We will explore different animals and their babies, using the correct scientific vocabulary as well as finding out how humans grow and develop. We will also investigate basic human needs and be able to talk about how we stay fit and healthy.
In our history lessons, we will be finding out all about the Gunpowder Plot! We will explore the main events of this historic plot and begin to think about how life was different in 1605.
We will develop our sketching skills in our Durham mining topic and think about the creativity of collage when we look at and recreate the work of Henri Matisse.
We will be developing our musical vocabulary as well as exploring pulse, rhythm and pith in a range of music this term.
We will be exploring what a computer is in our computing time this term. We will learn all the parts of a computer, what they do and why they are useful for.
On Wednesday we have PE with Scott from Sports Cool and will be developing our movement and motor skills.
On Thursday we have dance led by a professional coach.
On Friday we have P.E. with Mr Storey and will be developing our sending and receiving skills.
Children should be reading as regularly as possible throughout the week (at least 3 times) with an adult and ensure it is recorded in their reading records. Children will have a phonics book that will reflect their phonics level that they should be able to read fluently. They will also have a library book that is for ‘reading for pleasure’ that can be shared with their family at home.
Phonics sounds for each week will be shared so that children can practise spelling words containing their new sounds at home.
