SNAG

Meet the SNAGs

The SNAG team are made up of 8 children from Year 1 – 5. They meet on a regular basis with Mrs Phillips.

Our Aims

We aim to take action to improve provision and encourage healthier eating habits in our school.

  • To work with the school kitchen staff and organise some themed school lunches
  • To look at what a healthy packed lunch should contain and encourage healthier eating habits
  • To look at our school dinners and encourage healthier eating habits.

Take a look at what we’ve been doing:

Autumn 1:

We researched information about food pyramids

  • We drew our own pyramids and cut up pictures in magazines to stick on.
  • We learnt that a food pyramid is a useful visual tool that shows us how much of each food group we should be eating in order to stay healthy.
  • We learnt that our diet must include more of the foods at the bottom of the pyramid and less of the foods at the top.

Autumn 2:

A Healthy Plate

  • We had a go at making our own healthy plate. We talked about how a healthy plate should include each of the food groups and that approximately half of our healthy plate should be made up of vegetables. We also talked about healthy sources of protein and that we must also make healthy choices with regards to what we drink with our meals.
